How To Get An Ohio Kid Ready For The Snow

Step 1: Take pictures of the snow, since it'll be gone in an hour.

Step 2: Locate all the snowgear that you've been waiting and waiting to use.

Step 3: Announce to the children that it's time to go out and play in the snow.

Step 4: Start the layering process at 2 p.m.
Long underwear - check
2 pair of socks - check
T-shirt and pants over long underwear - check
Hooded sweatshirt over previous 2 layers - check
Snowpants - check
2 pair of gloves, with sleeves tucked in - check
Hat over hooded sweatshirt - check
Coat zipped to the brim so the kid can't move - check
Boots - check

Step 5: 2:30p.m. Send the kids outside, knowing full well they can't get anywhere fast with all the layers and bulk. Sit and take a short break after getting all hot and sweaty from bundling 3 kids.

Step 6: Enjoy the kids playing in the snow and getting some cute pictures.

Jon's idea of making a sledding trail.

Step 7: 3:30p.m. Kids are done. Ready to go in. They've had it. Nice.

Step 8: Unbundle kids and reorganize your life since you just had to tear it apart to find all the gear necessary to go outside for an hour. Enjoy popcorn and hot chocolate that is really chocolate milk, since they don't really enjoy hot chocolate, but always ask for it!

Pretty simple, eh?

That has got to be the cutest post ever! But you know, you'll have to bundle your crew up like that just to get to school for the next few days. We're supposed to be near 0 BEFORE wind chill. I freaking love Ohio. :(

I was expecting to see pics of the kids and parents sprawled out, fast asleep on the floor!

I know how NOT fun it is to get the kids bundled up to go outside. It's so cold here right now (we just hit the high temp of 0 degrees) that thankfully I have an excuse to avoid going out. BTW, tell Jon it works just as well to use a sled with a kid to make a trail, lol. But it was fun to see his ingenuity!

I'm so glad I live in Cali!!! LOL!

You should have walked outside and made a quick snow angel to get over the hot & sweaty part. hehehehe!
