On the subject of triplets - triplet connection day

Wow, I'm a roll today, eh??

While we were at Children's yesterday, dashing for Tyler's appointment. We crossed paths with a lady with a double stroller and her infants, in that instant her husband came around the corner too, with an infant carrier. I did the quick scan and did my math and blurted out, "Triplets?" and she gave that all knowing sideways glance and said, "Yes." Kept on going at her breakneck speed while we're moving at our breakneck speed with 2 preschoolers excitedly keeping up going down the hall. I said, "So do I!!" and she looked at my kids. Tyler was carrying Ryley and the boys were trailing behind. She then gave that knowing smile from one triplet mom to another. But that was it for conversation. I saw her tell her husband and they both looked back a couple of times. But there was no time for chit chat, we both had some place to be, me being the one that was late, I'm sure. I HATE being late and I'm ALWAYS early, so this was driving me nuts. So we all reach the elevator at the same time. If you've ever been to Akron Children's Hospital then you know it's visually pleasing to young children and while it's nice, it's not helpful in keeping them moving when you're in a hurry.

So the elevator arrives as we're getting there and it's going our way. We get on just in time, it's packed. I'm standing across from a doctor. I see his badge, it says maternal - fetal medicine. Can't see his name. His face is familiar, but I can't quite place it. It's a mag after effect, I swear. I still have blanks in thought...could just be triplet mom brain, dunno. Anyways, I make the connection since I can tell he's staring at me. I realize it's our peri that delivered us! Dr. Lavin. I said, "You delivered my triplets!" He says, "Yes I did." Like he knew who I was and was waiting for the lightbulb to come on...derrr...All this as we're filing out of the packed elevator. This was all within one floor. So again, no time for chit-chat!

Then as we're dashing back out of the building another lady passes us and says the usual, "triplets?" I say yes in passing as I'm trying to keep up with the herd. She says she has 11 month old triplet grandchildren. Asks if it gets better. I yell to her, "Tell your daughter that 2 is NOTHING compared to 3!!" and we're out.

So that was our triplet connection of the day.

Awwww, poor Ryley! I'm sure she'll be up and running around before you know it. *LOVED* your 'How to talk to a Triplet Mom' list. I've only got the duo going, but man, can I relate. :) I read your past posts, too. Good stuff, girl. Keep it comin'.

...forgot to add, we have also been to Akron Children's and you are SO right!!! Forget being in any kind of a hurry with that dang wall of... What IS that thing, anyway? It reminds me of the breakfast-making contraption in "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" except there's no real point to this one. Except to distract the kids, that is.

OMG, that was me you saw in the hallway....small world. We were going to our 1st NICU follow up appt and we were soooo late! We were in the wrong building then the right one but weren't sure where it was. Oh, I hope you didn't think I was rude, I was on the verge of tears. We were late, I forgot some paper work, I ran into so many people with their dumb comments and they want to chit chat and sometimes you just can't and they just don't understand. Our other stroller was stuck closed so my hubby had to carry one of the babies....it was a bad day! My Husband just looked at your kiddos and said "wow can you believe in a few yrs that will be us"
What a small world!
