I have the shockers of all shockers. My oldest daughter, Stephanie - aged 16, that's the key right there - she walked up to me tonight and hugged me. Yes you read that right. She hugged me. She told me she now understood. I said understood what? She said she understood all the stuff that Jon and I have been telling her. Pretty much the "blah, blah, blah" that most parents think teenagers hear. She said she saw herself in her friend, while her parents were lecturing her. She understood why we did it. Ummm, okay. I'm glad she's had this revelation, but I'm still clueless as to what brought this unprovoked display of affection. I'll take it, no doubt. But I could have been knocked over with a feather!
She didn't go in to more detail than that. But I'll take it. I truly hope that all of our blah, blah, blah has sunk in and that she will be proactive in her future and make sure her future is as positive as we know it can be.
That's all. Just wanted to share this teenage moment. It's so fleeting it needed to be documented!

What a rare gift! I'm glad you guys had that moment.
Yay for moments of teenage clarity! I didn't clash with my parents as much as my sister did, so I had lots of moments of clarity through watching her get lectured, lol.
Yeah! I hope it lasts for you!
The one thing of learned is that it won't last. But at least it's a glimmer! lol
What a great moment. So by now does she hate you again? She is a teenager girl after all. LOL!
Can I ship mine to you for the teenage years?
But of course, it only lasted about a day or so...lol
